I am not sure where to even begin... When my partner and I began the process of moving to Skyline, it was complete chaos. We were not told several things which resulted in us scrambling. Everything was completely unorganized. We were told the apartment was newly renovated however upon arriving, it was obvious by the stains on the carpet and walls that this was not true. A walk-through was completed and several things were pointed out that needed fixing or replacing (some lights were without light bulbs, the bathroom vent was so dirty it was clogged and needed completely replacing). None of these fixes were ever made. The staircase in building 400 was an issue in itself... the smell was horrific, either a wet dog, sewage or cigarettes (or all). The staircase was often not kept clean as there was dog hair, dirt or at times... cat litter and feces. We were sent a notice that we were weeks without paying our rent... come to find out SKYLINE did not actually set up our automatic banking that they were supposed to do therefore rent didn't come out and I then needed to run to the bank to get a certified check, for their mistake...The parking lot is an absolute mess. There are pot holes and debris everywhere. I was unable to get to work on one occasion in the winter because they had not called anyone to plow the drive-way therefore myself and several others were snowed in. It got to the point where I called to ask what was going on, as it was night time and still no plow. I was told it would be coming the following day. I had called the main office on more then one occasion to report things in my apartment, they did not get fixed and no one ever contacted me back. On one occasion I was in the shower, heard a knock, ignored it, followed by a man and the apartment manager ENTERING MY APARTMENT. Not only was a scared, as I had no idea who has entered by apartment but I was horrified that they just walked in!? I did not say anything initially, as I had not checked my mailbox that day and was not sure if I was given notice this would be happening - turns out I was not given ANY notice that they would be entering my apartment that day- THANKS. We decided to take a look at the gym, if you can call it that. It is extremely small, dirty and most machines are rusted, outdated and broken... The side door on building 400 was broken for most of the year, it is now fixed however the lock doesn't even fit properly in the socket however it does work now. The small gap between the carpet and the flooring does not have a cover on it, therefore you often get a sharp pain in your foot from a staple as you walk by- lovely. To top it all off, our lease finishes shortly so we assumed that we move out at the end of the lease unless we meet with property manager and discuss otherwise. Apparently not, as we called a month before our lease was up and were advised then that we had to give 60 days notice before we could move out. When I called and explained that we did not know of this, as in the past we have never experienced this, we were reminded that it was in the least we signed ... (THE LEASE WE SIGNED A YEAR AGO) the same lease that was not reviewed with us, we were not given ANY reminder of this 60 days notice. Ultimately Skyline is now making us pay 2 months rent for a place we will not be living in. They do however still have my last months rent from when I initially signed the lease therefore I do not understand if I gave a months notice, why I am having to pay 2 months rent. We are beyond disappointed and have made it clear to other to completely avoid Skyline living rentals. Other renters have too mentioned how awful the living environment is. Avoid these rentals!
